Hildebrand Christmas 1999

Seasons Greetings to Our Dear Friends and Family!

We hope that this letter finds you in good health and happiness.  1999 was a tremendous year for us with the birth of our son, Chance Scott.  He surprised us all, being three weeks early.  Fortunately, everything went well.  We were thrilled to have nearly all of our immediate family at the hospital in time to see the little tyke when he was just minutes old be weighed, measured and bathed.  So many of our friends also came to visit us in the hospital.  It was truly a wonderful event.  Chance is a great joy to his parents and we are looking forward to his first Christmas.

In February of this year, we traveled to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras with Travis's parents, brother Justin and wife, Katie and friends, Mike, Carla, Neeta and Kevin.  It was a fabulous time with the parties, parades and mayhem of Bourbon Street.  This year we spent a week in the Big Easy instead of just a weekend.  Highlights of the trip included tasting alligator, seeing the truck parade, catching beads thrown by Sandra Bullock (who got in trouble with the N.O.P.D. for tossing beads from the balcony of Sheraton during the Bacchus parade) and of course, for the men, participating in the Endymion parade and the fabulous Extravaganza in the SuperDome.  Those last few days in N.O. got a little tough for Susie who was beginning to suspect that her tiredness was a symptom of happy things to come.  Upon our return to Austin, suspicions proved correct that we were expecting!

In August, we took a weekend trip to California to visit Susie's father and grandmother in Oxnard, California.  We celebrated our 7th anniversary by visiting Universal Studios.  At 7 months pregnant,  Susie was relieved to get out of the Texas heat and enjoy the cool temperatures in Los Angeles.

Professionally, we are proud to announce that Susie successfully studied for (many hours!) and passed the Principles and Practice for Professional Engineers Exam and is now a licensed engineer in the state of Texas.

On October 5th, Chance Scott was born at 2:20 p.m.  He was 7 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long.  And so begins our journey as parents. . .

This Thanksgiving Chance's great-grandparents joined the Texas Hildebrands for a deep fried turkey.  We took the opportunity to get a four generation picture of the Hildebrand first-born sons and to gather some special video of Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa.

We are looking forward to our first Christmas with our special angel.  We hope that you have a wonderful holiday season and that the year 2000 blesses you with health and happiness.
